One of my favorite production/mixing techniques is kindof a mix of volume automation and sidechain compression. I'll use the envelope follower to automate the attack on any bass that hits at the same time as the kick drum. dont ask me why lol
Yes it actually does, that was actually a nice discovery too.. I used it primarily as a ducking /zero processing technique but the slight overlap of the low frequencies adds a punch I've started to really like. Especially when the phase is aligned👌
The Shaperbox approach seems really interesting - I've been meaning to try that plugin. I take an approach similar to the Soothe approach, except I use Trackspacer and just have it affect the subs. I like to do this regardless of genre.

Ooh interesting approach, keen to try it out sometime! So it sort of emphasizes the bass on the kick transients?

I'm looking forward to reading this later
Thanks Jeff, hopefully it’s helpful!
Thank you for this, it's really useful. I will save the link.
Good to hear it was useful, thanks for reading Dmytro!

FYI Shaperbox is possibly my top plugin purchase of the last five years - very good plugin, can't recommend enough!
