Sometimes you just have to - hunt high and low - to uncover that - the sun always shines on tv (eventually). A-ha 😉

I’m always finding that I’m still arranging and recording as I’m mixing. It all gets jumbled up. Not sure I’ve really wrapped my head around all that, other than I’ve gotten better at saying to myself “ok now I’m mixing”, “ok now I’m arranging”

There is monumental truth in this. Tenacity is essential. Consistancy is key. We are not always going to be in the perfect flow, but sticking with the work and showing up invites it!

Totally agree, Lisa! Thanks for reading :)

I don’t know if I saw that cat photo before. Really great! This makes sense - it’s become clear to me over time that sometimes you just have to be really patient and tenacious.

Yeah, I actually took this picture on my phone in the back-alley behind a studio in Melbourne where my band was recording about ten years ago, and I used it as the cover for my n1ghtmar3cat album 'RAT RACE' (2022). I've always loved this photo!

Thanks for the insight into your process, I always enjoy me some good introspection 😊

You mentioned that part of your process is just showing up and getting started, but is there any point in that process that you throw in the towel and say “F it, there’s nothing happening today” ? Or do you always get something of value? (Even if it’s future value?)

Hey Alexia! Thanks for reading, hope you and the fam are doing well :)

Yeah, definitely. I think learning to accept those "F it" days, knowing (even expecting) that they do happen, and just having it be a part of your process that you will have another go the next day is really important. I've got a couple of articles about how I approach that coming up soon.
