Here's a pic of the interface I have - I only carry it if I know I'm going to be recording. Their 'Arrow' line is smaller than this - less DSP, but bus powered, which is a big bonus. Would be easier for regular recording on the go, but this is still pretty portable!

I've taken a similar approach now, laptop, headphones etc. just no audio interface because I usually record vocals when I'm at home.
I think it's really refreshing to see more people doing this because it opens up the industry to virtually everyone and anyone.
